Operations readiness is the process of preparing the custodians of an IT system and their supporting organisation, such that, at the point of delivery/handover, they are fully ready to assume ownership of the system in its entirety. Furthermore, that they accept responsibility for, and are capable of, performing the safe and efficient operation in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Operational Readiness gets initiated when a project is at the initiation stage so that operational acceptance requirements are captured at the beginning and the projects understand about their operational deliverable requirements/responsibilities. Operational Acceptance comes into play post implementation ensuring that project has delivered against the requirements that were presented to them during the readiness engagement. This includes various facets of readiness including quality, support, monitoring, communication, and risk & disaster management.
